'candy' is like sweets, right?

but is candy exactly sweets? because sweets are not chocolates. there is a clear distinction between the two. sweets being essentially flavoured sugar, hard-boiled or gelatinous. and chocolates being ...well, chocolate based. whereas i think that 'candy' can include chocolate, is that right? i may be wrong.

Actually, I believe sweets includes chocolates and baked goods too, sir. Candy being of the hard-boiled or gelatinous sugar variety, as in my grandmother had a tin of hard candies waiting for me. I took the butterscotches. They were slightly stale and chewy.

baked goods would be cakes, surely, or biscuits?
